Beginner to advanced classes
Advanced Fiber Processing
Participate in processing your own fiber at our mill. 4 hour session includes: skirting, washing, fiber separating, blending and carding 8 hour session includes: all of the above plus dyeing and spinning. Blending materials, dye and processing fees may apply.

Intro to Mill Processing
Learn the basics of taking raw fiber from “sheep to shawl.” Topics will included: skirting, washing, dyeing, carding, and spinning.

How to Dye Fiber and Yarn
Learn the basics of dyeing raw fiber, roving and yarn using Jacquard and Dharma acid dyes on a variety of animal fibers. Each student will dye a 200 yard skein of our 50/50 wool/alpaca blend yarn and 4 ounces of roving or loose fiber of your choice. Materials included.

Beginner Spinning: An Introduction to Spinning Fiber

Intermediate Spinning: The Start to Art Yarn
In this session you will experience the fun and freedom of using your wheel to get a variety of effects. Chain plying, spinning from batts, rolags and a cloud will be covered. A $10 material fee is included in class price.
3 hrs – $75
Beginning Felting
Felting is a fun way to create products from your fiber. Learn to wet felt and needle felt using roving, batts and cloud. Materials included in class price.

Shearing Basics
Understanding the Techniques of Shearing. This introductory course will give you a general understanding of shearing your own animals. Learn about the equipment used and skills needed for a simple clip you can do yourself. Travel fees may apply.
2 hrs $150
Advanced Shearing
A hands-on experience doing herd health and shearing your own flock.
In this intensive class we will demonstrate and teach the basics of equipment care, animal restraint and shearing techniques for your specific flock. Designed for the homesteader wanting to process their own fiber from start to finish. This is the first step in harvesting your crop. During this session, up to 5 animals will be shorn. Travel fees may apply
8 hrs – $500
Breeding Selection Based on Fiber
Using raw fleece to improve breeding decisions. One of the criteria for selecting breeding pairs should be fleece quality. In this class we will evaluate up to 4 of your fleeces for fineness, crimp/ lock structure, staple and consistency. The goal is to use the phenotype of the fleece to identify potential improvement in your breeding decisions.
